    Make Valentine’s Day Flowers Last

These five tricks will have your flowers blooming for longer

    13 February 2015

With Valentine’s Day only one night away, we women are all getting ready for beautiful flowers to be delivered! But in this heat, we need a few extra tricks to make the blooms last longer. Here are 5 ways to achieve just that:

1 Give Your Flowers An Aspirin
We are not joking! No, your flowers don’t have a headache but crush an Aspirin into the water before adding your flowers and you will be amazed at the results.

    2 Hairspray
Stand away from your flowers and gently spray the blooms with some hairspray, it will help them stay looking fresher for longer.

3 Cut The Stems At An Angle
Not only will this create a bigger surface area, allowing as much water as possible to be absorbed but cutting at an angle prevents stems from sitting flat against the bottom of the vase thereby letting them continue to take in water.

4 Remove Any Below Water Level Leaves
Cutting back leaves that will end up below surface level will stop them from rotting and ruining the fresh water.

    5 Peel Away
Peel away any damaged or old leaves or petals so that you always see the fresh, new ones. Often when you think you need to throw out your flowers, under the ruined petals are bright, fresh, new ones waiting to be exposed.
