Over the past decade yoga has exploded in the Mother City, especially the hot, choreographed styles. But it was Sri K Pattabhi Jois who popularized the gymnastic style of yoga (Ashtanga vinyasa yoga) in the mid-twentieth century, and named it after his South Indian hometown, Mysore.
Traditional Ashtanga yoga is a practice of postures in a particular sequence where students progress at their own pace and work one-on-one with a qualified teacher. And Sharline Rofail is one such teacher! Recently, Sharline moved to Cape Town after living in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she studied and worked under many teachers from all over the world.
Her dedication comes across in her gentle guidance that is both focused and encouraging. (We are so lucky to have her.) If you want to experience the union of body, mind and spirit, we highly recommend you find her in a studio – and develop calm and clarity of mind while gaining strength and flexibility in the body.
