Get ahead of the holiday madness - and prevent dissapointment

    19 November 2014

December holidays are just around the corner, which ultimately means long lunches, extravagant dinners and at long last, time to try out all those restaurants that have been on your list for the last year. But it is holiday season, so you have to book!

Here are our favourite dining spots in Cape Town, which you will need to book for way in advance, but are totally worth it:

    1 Babel Restaurant at Babylonstoren

Open for lunch Wednesdays to Sundays and for dinner Friday and Saturday evenings. Babel is one of the Wineland destinations you really don’t want to miss. Expect creative meals, which include vegetables and fruit gathered daily from the Babylonstoren gardens.
    Call or email .

    2 The Table Restaurant

Also set in the Winelands, The Table is an expression of love for good food and fantastic produce. A set menu is served and brought to the table in dishes and platters where guests serve themselves. It’s about the simple pleasures of sitting down to a beautifully cooked meal with family or friends. You will never eat the same meal twice at The Table. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
Call or email for info and bookings.

    3 The Pot Luck Club

Everyone who has been to Cape Town knows of The Pot Club! It’s situated on the top floor of the Old Biscuit Mill’s silo, in Woodstock. The Pot Club means delicious food and interesting views. Expect innovative food, served tapas style. Our advice: Try everything!
    Call or email .

    4 The Test Kitchen

The second of Luke Dale Roberts’ resturants’ to make our list (Pot Luck Club was the first), The Test Kitchen is all about innovation, creation and flavour. You have the choice between a five- and an eight-course tasting menu. We say splurge – and go for the eight.
    Call  or email .

    5 Harbour House

This one made our list because how can you hit Cape Town and (A) not enjoy the ocean views and (B) not indulge in delicious seafood? We suggest hitting Kalk Bay but there is also a branch at the V&A Waterfront.
