What To Expect
It follows the personal life of Stephen Hawking and his relationship with his first wife, Jane Hawking, rather than focussing on his professional, scientific achievements. The story takes us through their life from when they met pre-ALS diagnosis, when Stephen was a healthy young man until the breakdown of their marriage that lasted for almost 3 decades.

‘One never knows where the next great leap forward will come or from who.’ – Dennis Sciama
‘But, I love him and he loves me. We’re going to fight this illness together.’ – Jane Hawking
What The Critics Say
‘Watching him [Eddie Redmayne] slumped in an electric wheelchair, simulating the effects of Hawking’s motor neurone disease, it’s easy to forget you’re looking at an actor.’ - Sydney Morning Herald
‘The most surprising thing about The Theory of Everything, which looks from the outside like a movie about Stephen Hawking, is that it’s a movie about Jane, his first wife.’ – ABC Radio (Australia)
‘There’s a mischievous quality to Redmayne that seems a good match with the wit Hawking has always managed to convey with a raised eyebrow and a mechanically-voiced quip.’ – Toronto Sun
