    Build a stone wall

    11 March 2013

A wall of stone-filled gabions doesn’t only have to be built by architects – do it yourself in three simple steps, as Ashley demonstrates.

    Shopping list

    • gabions with stones
    • 40mm screw plugs
    • 8mm washers
    • 50mm screws

    Tools
    • electric drill
    • pencil
    • screwdriver

    Get started
1 Pack the gabions in an overlapping pattern (like bricks). The gabions are installed one by one. Mark the points for the screws with a pencil at each of the gabion’s four corners.

2 Drill four holes and tap in the plugs.

3 Screw the gabion in with the screws and washers so that the washers hold down the corners.

4 The gabion will stay in place securely, thanks to the washers.
