    Five Decor Blunders To Avoid

    Learn from our mistakes

    24 October 2014

Everyone makes decor mistakes, here the most common mistakes that we have come across, let them be a lesson for you!

1 It Looks Amazing But It’s So Uncomfortable
Don’t do it. Yes it looks amazing in the shop and you can imagine it perfectly in your lounge, bedroom or by the pool but once you sit down it is possibly the most uncomfortable piece of furniture ever. Walk away, no matter how beautiful it is – it’s so not worth it.

    2 That Piece Everyone Has
The problem with social media, especially Pinterest and Instagram, is some decor items (be them big or small) seem to just trend. That doesn’t mean rush out and buy them. Yes, they are cool but you have to ask yourself: ‘Do you really want the exact same so-called collectors piece as everyone else?’ We think not.

    3 Paint Without A Test
Remember every room is different, as is its texture and light. So please note, a paint colour looks completely different in every single space. Don’t paint without testing, just don’t.

    4 The Cheap Fix
Basically there is no other saying that explains it better than ‘goedkoop, is duur koop.’ Yes, it may be fixed today but we all know that fixing something cheaply (we are talking about glue, instead of screws) is going to be a long-term problem. Fix it properly the first time.

    5 Over Complication
Don’t over complicate anything, from your organisation to your packing-away method. If your cushions only fit in the cupboard in one specific formation you are going to have a problem on your hand. Make things easy for yourself.
