From a pigsty

Apart from terracotta tiles and cement floors in the living areas, recycled pine has been used for flooring throughout the rest of the house. Bought from a scrapyard, the wood originally came from a pigsty. Michelle recounts, ‘The boards were still full of nails and so filthy from manure that we had to literally scrub them before they could be laid. But there was so much – enough for the entire house and our studio above the garage!’
