The new is still, well, black, only a little less basic, and you don’t have to pair it with white unless you’re after the monochrome look, which is another story altogether.
You can wear black with black. You can wear black with cobalt blue. You can (and this is the reason we’ve always loved it) wear black pretty much anyway you like.
To make it really new, forget colour and focus on shape. The wide skirt and cropped top? Oh yes.
Why we love the new black: In a season of floral, tribal and arty prints, black is a great palate cleanser.
