You Will Need
To Make
1 Trace the inside of the frame onto the 6mm plywood and have it cut to size to form the bottom of the drawer.
2 Depending on how deep you want the drawer to be, have the sides cut to size from 6mm plywood.
3 Decide how many dividers you’d like across the length and width, then have them cut to size from the 3mm ply wood. Ask the wood merchant to cut evenly spaced grooves in one side of each divider. The grooves should be 3mm wide and cover exactly half the width of each divider, to ensure a snug fit when assembled.
4 Sand the edges of all the pieces of ply wood before staining with imbuia wood stain. Leave to dry, then repeat if you prefer a more intense colour.
5 Assemble the drawer by glueing the sides to the bottom. Reinforce each join with panel pins from the back.
6 Assemble the dividers and glue them in place. Reinforce with panel pins.
7 Glue the drawer to the inside of the frame. Weigh it down with a heavy object, tape around the outside with packing tape, then leave to dry.
Good Idea
Make a gilded frame by using gold craft paint. Dab it on with a sponge to create an aged appearance.
