You will need
• fabric cutoffs of your choice
• batting (for insulation)
• measuring tape
• scissors
• pins
• cotton thread
• sewing machine
1 Cut out two 22cm squares of fabric and one 22cm square of insulating batting.
2 Place the two fabric squares on top of each other, right sides facing. Place the batting on top, and pin. Sew the pieces together leaving a 10cm opening on one side. Trim the corners and reach into the opening to turn it right side out.
3 To make the loop, take a 9 x 13cm scrap of fabric and iron it in half length-ways. Open it up and iron each edge into the centre crease. Iron in half again. Topstitch the edges and fold into a loop.
4 Topstitch the opening of the potholder shut while sewing your loop into place. To create the quilted effect, continue sewing squares by lining your presser foot against the previous line for guidance.
