One of the favourite party capitals of the world is a small Mediterranean island known as Ibiza. Look beyond the non-stop parties though, and you’ll discover a beautiful Spanish town with a lot more going on than lasers, loud music, and dancing. Here are a few things to see and do in Ibiza:
Sightseeing
Ibiza has some pretty interesting places to visit. Spend the day getting lost in the island’s sleepy villages and deserted coves, or head out to a 2 000-year-old salt farm with amazing sunset views. You can also take in the music-and-light shows among the strange formations of stalagmites and stalactites at the Can Marça Caves. The island is only 45 km long and 25 km wide, so you can get a lot of sightseeing done in a day.
Water sports
When you’re surrounded by the Mediterranean sea, how can you not enjoy the ocean? Ibiza has more than 20 beaches with water sports galore, including diving, windsurfing, kite surfing, catamaran sailing, flyboarding, parasailing, banana-boat and pedalos, and if the open ocean’s not for you, there are water parks too.
Formentera
Ibiza’s little sister island Formentera is gaining popularity for its privacy, its amazingly clear water (perfect for diving and snorkelling), and its naturist approach to life (that means nude beaches, by the way). It’s worth the trip, because Formentera is so different from the other islands in the area you’ll wonder if you are still in Spain!
