What would you find in the perfect airport?

After asking about our biggest problems with local airports, Travel Start asked more than 6 000 South Africans what they would add to an airport if they could, and the answers were interesting.

Apparently, features we would find helpful include a library, beauty and grooming services, as well as entertainment spaces.

1. 65% say free WiFi should be mandatory. We already have 50MB or 30 minutes of free WiFi at all ACSA airports, but if 65% still want more, it’s clearly not enough.
2. 47% would like a nap area to catch up on sleep they’ve lost to jetlag.
3. 39% hate having to cross long distances to get from their terminal to their boarding gate. It can be especially annoying when you have to sprint to catch a connecting flight in another part of the airport.
4. 27% would like airside shower facilities.
5. 23% could use some help keeping the kids entertained and would appreciate a playroom.
6. 13% want to pass the time between flights in – surprise, surprise – a library.
7. 12% think a health spa would be a good way to de-stress before or after a long haul flight.
8. 11% see themselves catching up on the latest blockbusters in an airport cinema.
9. 9% would like to chill and beat a random traveller’s billiard’s score in a games room.
10. 6% want to use extra time in the airport to burn calories in a gym.
