We stumbled on a cool new way to take amazing travel photos that will beat any of your friends’ weaker attempts with a regular old camera or iPhone.

Quadcopters – aka baby drones – are fast becoming the new favourite tech toy around the world, and photography fans everywhere are strapping their GoPros and DSLRs onto them for a new perspective.

Aerial drone cameras are in, and with this progression of on-the-go camera, comes an upgrade of the ubiquitous selfie. The ‘Dronie’ (drone-selfie) trend has picked up enough speed to warrant its own Tumblr and an Instagram hashtag!

We definitely see the drone’s usefulness – more room to pose, magnificent panoramic backgrounds of your holiday destination, and no awkward ‘reaching arm’ in the corner of your photo. It’s not entirely hands free – the drone requires a hand controller like the ones used for model planes – but it’s definitely a step up from the average travel selfie.
