Traveller’s name: Dolores Visser
Destination: Okavango Delta
Dates: 17 April to 6 May 2011
I had always wanted to experience the world’s largest inland delta, the Okavango Delta in Botswana. One way to do it is via a luxurious and expensive fly-in, five-day excursion, but I wanted something more adventurous, closer to nature. At the Getaway Show at Lourensford Estate in Somerset West in March 2011, I was introduced to just such a camping tour by Nomad Africa Adventure Tours. At almost 75 years of age I did not qualify as the tour was described as suitable for people between 16 and 55. But after a visit to the Nomad management offices I was declared fit to depart.
