Located on Orange Street, in the heart of Cape Town, African Pride Hotels’ 15 on Orange is an inner-city escape for locals and international tourists.
I arrived on a Friday afternoon and made my way up to the fourth floor, where I was welcomed by a gorgeous view of the mountain. The room was large and comfortable, and I immediately made myself at home on the huge king-sized bed for an afternoon of indulgent TV watching. The rooms include a minibar, a tea and coffee station, two TVs (one conveniently placed for in-bed viewing!), a large bathroom with a shower and tub, and a lounge area fitted with a couch, chairs and coffee table. Despite being located on quite a busy street, the rooms are peaceful and quiet – and the heavy curtains block out the early-morning sun so you can sleep in as late as you want.
I had dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, Savour. For dinner, I opted for the lamb shank followed by crème brûlée. The portions were generous and beautifully presented. Breakfast is served buffet style, with hot options such as bacon, every kind of egg, tomatoes and toast. In the cold section, there’s is a wide variety of yoghurt, fruit, cereal and muesli. If you’re a breakfast-in-bed kind of girl, you’ll find a menu on your bed when you return from dinner (as well as your bed turned down and mini chocolates on each pillow – divine). To place your order, simply select a time and leave your order hanging on your door when you go to bed. You’ll wake up to a decadent breakfast without having to leave the comfort of your plush bed.
After breakfast I was treated to an indulgent half-an-hour massage at the rooftop Suntra spa. The spa offers everything you need to pamper yourself, from massages and facials to manis and pedis. Take a break before or after your spa treatment and laze by the rooftop pool and enjoy the 360 degree view of the city.
