How’s your budget? Meet One Rand Man

Imagine living your life for a full month spending only R1 coins – on everything. Well, that’s exactly what the One Rand Man is doing. To get conversations going around National Savings Month, Sanlam challenged a 32-year-old Cape Town-based architectural consultant to take part in an interesting social experiment: get by every day for a month using only R1 coins.

It’s been quite the roller-coaster, from having to buy a machine to help him count out his entire salary in R1 coins to realising just how much he’s spending on his car compared to his pension fund. The whole experience is being filmed for the rest of us to watch as a web series, along with advice and opinions from financial experts. It’s got people really thinking about their spending habits and just how well we’re really managing our money. Have a look below.
