The most romantic day of the year (for some) is just around the corner – and you can’t help but wonder whether your boyfriend of three years is planning to pop the question.

Lately, he has been looking rather frazzled, or is it work that’s stressing him out?
You try not to dwell too much, just in case the moment doesn’t present itself, leaving you totally shattered. But you can’t help yourself! Surely he’s just planning a romantic evening to celebrate St. Valentine.

The tips below should help you decide whether to have your nails done for that bended-knee moment or simply just buy a new vase for the beautiful bouquet he will be giving you.

Here are  a few ways of  telling if a ring will be gracing your finger this year:

• Your parents or best friend ask about him and how things are going, a lot more than usual. (They are in on the secret!)
• His long-term financial plans suddenly include you.
• He randomly asks if you love him. And we all know that men avoid direct references to the L word at all costs.
• For the first time ever, he talks about Valentine’s Day plans without any snide remarks about it being a money-making scheme.
• You find out he has actually made plans for Valentine’s Day but is keeping it a secret.
• Out of the blue he asks questions about having children and your feelings on the matter.
• He is being way more attentive than usual.
• You got home just in time to find him closing the lid of your jewellery box. (Someone is snooping for a ring size.)

Now of course we all know these subtle hints are not guaranteed to have him popping the question, but there’s no reason why you can’t be prepared.
