Cardies is making a difference by showing people how much they really care. Cardies is making Christmas a little sweeter by reminding people how powerful and humbling it is to give something to someone who expects nothing.
The Cardies Cookie campaign launches tomorrow, 4 December, where 260 000 packets of cookies will be spread across all Cardies stores – and the goal is to give every single customer a packet of cookies. Sounds yum, but here’s the real challenge: Instead of eating it yourselves, Cardies is asking you to give the cookies to someone who really needs it.
All the cookies were made by Khayelitsha Cookies, in Cape Town. A company that employs previously disadvantage and unemployed women, mainly from the Mfuleni and Khayelitsha townships, in an attempt to alleviate the struggle of South African women. Through this campaign they have employed another 13 women, meaning 13 more families will receive an income this festive season. Well done Cardies.
