After the success of the first Mercedes-Benz Bokeh South African International Film Festival, Cape Town will be treated to the unique collaboration of fashion and film once more.
So, if you missed out on last year’s experience you might be thinking to yourself ‘What is a fashion film festival?’ Well, a fashion film, which forms part of a marketing genre, shows the essence of a fashion label in a short film to engage interest and desire. Karl Lagerfeld has been a major pioneer for this brand expression with works like Reincarnation that featured Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams.
In the evening, a red carpet will be rolled out for all the guests to show off their sense of style. Plus, there will be a Cape Town Fashion Council (CTFC ) designer pop-up shop so you can buy rare items from local designers as well as international styles. There will be models strutting their stuff in beautiful clothes for entertainment – and, obviously, the showings of fashion films. Here’s a taste of what exactly a fashion film is:
