The best way to recover from a fun filled (and meat filled) Braai Day? Take in a movie at Ster Kinekor. It will be screening two blockbuster films on the public holiday that have not yet been released – you’ll get to watch them first! Pick your favourite and book today:
In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters.
As he serves vengeance against those who brutalise the helpless, McCall’s desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Bill Pullman, Chloë Grace Moretz, David Harbour, Denzel Washington, Marton Csokas and Melissa Leo. It carries a 16L classification and the running time is 132mins.
The Equalizer releases nationally on Friday, 26 September, and will show in Ster Kinekor IMAX cinemas for one week only.
Planes 2: Fire & Rescue (3D) is a new comedy-adventure about second chances. It features a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircrafts devoted to protecting the historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire.
When world-famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears – and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous team, including spirited super scooper Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles (including Drip) known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.
Cinemas at The Zone, Carnival City and Cradlestone in Johannesburg; Brooklyn Mall and Forest Hill in Pretoria; Gateway in Durban; and Blue Route and Cavendish in Cape Town will also have fun activations for the kids!
