On the fifth anniversary of their marriage, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) discovers that his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) has gone missing. It becomes breaking news all over the media – and he is thrown into the spotlight. His awkward behaviour leads the public to think that he might have had a hand in her disappearance.

The couple’s marriage was filled with betrayal, financial problems, disputes and detachment – and the investigating detective makes discoveries that indicate Nick really didn’t know his wife: Turns out she was pregnant and she’s wanted to buy a gun.

Finding evidence to clear his name, Nick turns to his twin sister for help and they hire a defence attorney Tanner Bolt (Tyler Perry) who specializes in defending husbands who are falsely accused of killing their wives.
