Turn your bathroom into a spa zone

5 steps to relaxing at home

    22 September 2014

There is nothing quite as relaxing in a spa but let’s face it, we cannot spend every night at a five star spa but that shouldn’t mean you do not relax in the serenity of your own home. Why not turn your own bathroom into a spa like zone. Changing the sights, smells and sounds of your home bathroom can immediately up the luxury and relaxation factor at home. Here are a few ways to ensure you bathroom is spa like in no time.

    1. Cool, calm colours.

Get rid of any loud colours in your bathroom and replace them with soft blue and grey tones. A calming colour scheme that embodies water or nature will immediately have a calming effect on your space.

    2. It’s all about the lighting.

Lighting is one of the most important factors that transport you in the relaxation zone. You will never be able to relax with bright lights. Add candles to your space, and then hit the switch. Nothing is quite as relaxing as candle light and will create a spa ambiance straight away.

    3. Smell like the spa.

One of the most relaxing scents is lavender. Make sure there is a lavender scented candle in the mix or add lavender oil to your tub. Lavender is a key aromatherapy ingredients relieving muscle pain, migraines and other headaches, and inflammation.

    4. Turn up the volume

No, we don’t mean Beyonce or Lady Gaga, but having an iPod dock in your bathroom and playing soft, relaxing music will change your space in to a relaxing zone in no time. Think about the music that you heard in a spa – sounds of nature, white noise or even a mediation recording – whatever works for you.

    5. Products! Products! Products!

Spas are all about products, so when you take a relaxing soak in the tub embrace relaxing products. Bubble baths are so luxurious! Put on a face mask, use oils, intense and bath bombs.
