As we head into 2015 it might be time to revamp your ’70s bathroom. Sound familiar? Then, this one’s for you! The owners of this bathroom dreamed of creating a contemporary space, but budget constraints only allowed for a few cosmetic changes – and forced them to tackle some clever décor tricks.
The Transformation
When you can’t afford to upgrade tiles or sanitary ware, the easiest – and most cost-effective – way to make a change is with paint. Plascon Velvaglo in the colour Berlin Block was used on the tiles and walls to create a sense of space and a seamless flow.
The tiles were lightly sanded before a primer was applied; once this had dried, two coats of Plascon’s Berlin Block were painted on the tiles as well as the exposed piping to help it blend in, while the rest of the walls were covered in Plascon Cashmere. The now dark grey bathroom with a new white-framed mirror has a distinctly contemporary feel.
