This frost-hardy evergreen tree blossoms in late summer
6 February 2015
This fast-growing evergreen tree grows to about 4m, and has a lovely rounded shape.
The new foliage growth has a striking russet-purple colour.
The tiny whitish flowers are conspicuous as they stand upwards at the ends of the branches in winter to early spring, when most other plants are not flowering.
Seed pods form during the summer months and split open to display bright red seeds, which birds enjoy; sometimes, the entire tree is spangled with red seeds.
Glossy bersama is a frost-tender tree that loves plenty of water in summer; plant in a sunny position.
