Plant it at the back of a border in fertile soil and cut back after flowering. Although butterfly bush is drought-tolerant, it will thrive if given water during very dry spells – so water it well during the summer months in the winter rainfall areas to ensure that you’re rewarded with a mass of beautiful flowers.
