Reader’s Question
I am really battling with a bonsai acacia tree that stands on my kitchen table. It’s looking very sickly. I don’t quite know how much water to give it.
JJ’s Answer
The biggest mistake that people make is not giving bonsai’s enough light. Most bonsai trees are outdoor trees, so they need strong sunlight for most of the day. Your kitchen may be suitable, provided you stand the tree close to a window. REMEMBER The more sunlight it gets, the more water it will need. It’s a good idea to plunge your tree into a bowl of water once a fortnight for a thorough soaking. And during the summer months, bonsai tress should be fed at least every fortnight too.
