What do you really want to achieve? Are you selling yourself short because of practical considerations?
It’s time to set aside your conservative goals and rather focus on your wildly ambitious goals, according to a paper published in the Journal of Consumer Research.
‘Those who set ambitious goals have a greater level of satisfaction compared to those who don’t,’ says Prof Cecile Cho, from the University of California, Riverside.
Researchers set up experiments to compare people who aimed high against those who set a lower bar. ‘The moral of the story is don’t sell yourself short,’ says Prof Cho.
There you have it; now just go out and do it!
