We love these handmade silk chord bracelets in a rainbow of colours with a choice of charms.
Leigh Herringer, who owns the business with her mum, Tricia Rowand, explains, ‘We noticed people often asked us where we got our beaded jewellery from. They wanted fun, colourful, affordable beads and jewellery they could wear with a t shirt and jeans – or with a cocktail dress. We started designing necklaces that reflected international fashion trends, as well as African colours and vibes. I think our thing is that we mix things up, such as pearls and wood, or lucky beans and semi-precious stones.’
Although the range has a distinctive African feel, it is fashionable with an edgy feel, think wooden necklaces with skulls and leather tassels. Leigh and Tricia design and source beads themselves and employ local beaders, some of whom are from disadvantaged backgrounds, to string them.
Leigh says, ‘Each beaded necklace and bracelet is handmade and our designs can be inspired by colour, texture, mood and landscapes.’
This year’s charms include a starfish, turtle, pansy shell, dolphin, elephant and rhino. Prices start at R260 and they’re available in sterling silver, gold vermeil and rose-gold vermeil.
