NY Fashion Week designer Carrie Hammer had members of the fashion media abuzz when she featured the first model with Down’s syndrome to walk her show.
Actress Jamie Brewer, best known for her roles on American Horror Story, is the first woman ever with Down’s syndrome to be a part of such a major fashion event. Jamie wore clothing by the designer, Carrie Hammer as part of her Role Models Not Runway Models campaign, which previously included a sex therapist who happened to be in a wheelchair and a woman who lost her limbs to bacterial meningitis.
‘We feature incredible, influential women on the runaway. CEOs, executives, activist, actresses, anyone who is at the top of the field, top of their game,’ Carrie told USA Today Network.
The designs were made especially for each model.
