Here’s a lovely up-to-date alternative to the tray cloth: Laminated sheets of gift wrap

With the wide variety, which is available these days, you will be able to find the perfect paper for your tray. Plus it’s practical because you can simply wipe them clean with a damp cloth.

Make a few by cutting giftwrap into pieces that are slightly smaller than the base of your tray and then have them laminated.

Trim them to the correct size, but leave a plastic strip around the edges to ensure they are waterproof.
