You Will Need
NOTE Choose a heavyweight fabric like canvas or cotton that can handle every day wear and tear.
To Make
1 Measure the ottoman and draft a paper pattern for the top panel and another for the side panels. Add 1.5cm for the seams and the hem allowances.
2 Use the paper patterns to cut one top panel and four side panels from the fabric.
3 The vertical seams will be open seams, so start by overlocking the seam allowances. Next, sew the vertical seams, stopping 1.5cm from the top edge. Press the seams open.
4 Sew and overlock the top panel to the side panels.
5 Overlock the bottom edge, press and sew the hem.
TIP Instead of making paper patterns first, draft the panels straight onto the fabric, using a water-soluble fabric pen.
