You Will Need

• white lamp shade
• white lace with a decorative cut-out edge or border
• sewing machine
• dress making pins
• needle and white thread
• double-sided tape

To Make
1 Place the lamp shade (lying on its side) on the lace and cut the lace so that it wraps comfortably around the shade. Wrap it with the wrong side facing outwards, pin it together where the two edges meet and stitch them together.

2 Turn the lace the right way round and pull it over the lamp shade.

3 Fold the top edge (and bottom edge if there is no cut-out border) over and stick it to the inside of the shade using double-sided tape.

4 If the lace you are using doesn’t have an attractive border, attach a strip of lace edging all along the bottom edge of the lamp shade.

Good Idea
When the lace gets dirty, simply loosen the double-sided tape, slide the cover off and wash it. Replace it again once it is dry.
