If you’ve missed it, check out our post about the correct way to wash your jeans. These are some of the questions readers asked, answered by the experts at True Religion and 7 for All Mankind SA.
Why does denim need to be washed this way?
It is best to follow the instructions in the It’s Jeanious post because the lifespan of your jeans will last so much longer, jeans are supposed to wear naturally- and the natural process your jeans go through will have them looking fabulous for years to come. Jeans also have a tendency to lose their shape – this is simply because the fibres are wearing down at a much faster rate due to the unnecessary washing processes. The fit will stay as fabulous as the day you tried your best pair of jeans on, if you just take simple care of them.
How long should denim last if washed in these steps?
Depends on the type of jeans you have purchased (jeggings differs to hardy jeans). By following these wash instructions your jeans should easily last up to five to eight years, no problem. This includes the colour and the fit of your jeans too.
How often does denim need to be washed?
This may shock some of you, you may not even believe me at first but I advise you to trust me. Jeans can last without being washed for one to three months at a time, (they will only require a simple rinse if you’ve been out and you’ve come home smelling like last night’s ashtray – stick to the methods mentioned above though and you’ll be good to go in no time.) Jeans are supposed to go through tough times, that’s what gives them the individualised character we all love in our favourite pair.
